PetGiving

PetGiving is a crowdfunding platform that helps save shelter animal lives and get them the care they need.

In the first phase of this project, we were tasked with bringing our client’s dream for this app to life via a cohesive visual identity and presentation suite that was inspiring enough to get funding for development.

I led the identity design for PetGiving and created a full brand system that would be flexible enough to cover all print, digital, and interactive materials we would need.

We needed a wide variety of showcase prints and a custom video presentation for the PetCo Innovation Showdown.

I utilized our new brand system to create business cards, handouts, signage, and other promotional items. I also created some poppy, on-brand animations for portions of the video.

Our efforts we’re rewarded with funding from PetCo for an initial MVP!

Once we secured this funding, we started working on the MVP design for the PetGiving website and my focus shifted to user experience.

I led user research, exploration of personas, user flows, and the interface design. Our challenge was to create a seamless and pleasant experience for donation that would keep users engaged, while also staying within a tight budget and a tighter timeline.

We collaborated with development partner, Highland Solutions, and adopted an Agile workflow to keep things moving smoothly. The Phase 1 MVP launched in early 2020.

Over the course of the project, we helped this non-profit win $175,000 in funding from PetCo.

We needed thorough research on UX patterns in the charity space and a well-defined idea of user groups, their unique needs, and their user flows.

Defining these goals was vital to creating a system that works for a wide variety of users across the front-end and back-end of the site.

I utilized the personas, wireframes, and flow charts to make sure no user would be left behind, wether they were a donor or a shelter that needed donations.

In addition to the front-end donation UI, I was also tasked with creating the back-end portal UI that allows animal shelter employees to auto-import and also manually add animals from their shelter to the site for donations.

This included the onboarding for each account, a backend dashboard, and a system for integrating popular shelter software to automatically add animals.
